Seven Deadly Sins
March 5, 2025 – April 18
The season of Lent is a time for us to fast, pray, reflect, and above all repent of sin and it’s deadly effect on our lives. In his essay on sin, the theologian Cornelius Plantinga says this about sin, “These (sins) make life progressively miserable: conceit, for instance, typically generates envy of rivals, a nasty form of resentment that eats away at the one who envies.” “Sin,” as Augustine says, “becomes the punishment of sin.” Historically the church has recognized 7 sins that are particularly corrosive in our lives, the “7 Deadly Sins” give us a helpful tool to examine our lives, confess our sins, and above all take hope in the one who went to the cross and rose again for us, our savior from sin and death, Jesus Christ.
