Rebuild the House: A Series on Haggai
November 2-23, 2025
Toward the tail end of the Old Testament, there are a host of small books that can be tempting to ignore. Their size and circumstances can make it feel like they don’t have much to offer to us today. However, we would be foolish to overlook the immense wisdom God speaks through his prophets in these books. Consider Haggai, who prophesies to Israel upon its return from exile when they were tempted to simply fixate on building their own wealth and personal kingdoms. Through Haggai, God reminds his people to rebuild what was truly lost: the house of the Lord where He promises to dwell among His people. As we consider the words of Haggai amidst our own turbulent times, we face the same temptation as Israel, but we also have the same calling to remember what God has truly called us to build: a faithful church that proclaims to the world that God has come to dwell with us.
